Stellantis announces production halts at Cassino and Windsor plants
Stellantis is implementing multiple production halts across its global facilities. In Cassino, Italy, the plant will suspend stamping, painting, and assembly operations from October 6 to October 9. Only the press and plastics departments will remain active to serve other group plants. The Uilm union has called for a clear, verifiable industrial plan to address the ongoing crisis and protect employment.
In Windsor, Canada, Stellantis has scheduled three additional three-week production stoppages starting October 19, October 26, and November 2. These halts will affect over 6,400 employees. The company attributed these decisions to North American demand fluctuations and the impact of tariffs. This follows a period of expansion where the company invested approximately 1.9 billion Canadian dollars into the facility.
Meanwhile, in China, the manufacturer Jac has confirmed it is in discussions with Stellantis and Huawei to evaluate a potential three-way collaboration.
