Italy's June 2026 auto market records 10% sales increase

June 2026 saw Italy register 146,000–148,000 new vehicles, a 10.6 % year‑on‑year rise and the seventh consecutive month of growth. The first half of the year totaled about 937 000 registrations, up roughly 9.6 % versus the same period in 2025.

Electric battery‑electric vehicles (BEV) surged, reaching a market share just over 10 % in June and about 8‑9 % for the half‑year, with registrations jumping 84‑90 % year‑on‑year. Short‑term rentals grew 57 % and private‑buyer registrations rose 17 %.

Stellantis outperformed the market, posting a 23 % increase in June and lifting its market share to around 30 % for the semester; Fiat remained the top‑selling brand with the Pandina model delivering about 8,260 units. Leapmotor’s T03 electric model recorded strong growth, contributing to Stellantis’ electric‑vehicle share of nearly 20 % in June. Other manufacturers such as BMW Group posted a 6.2 % semester growth, while overall sales channels showed a shift toward rental and private purchases.
