Stellantis evaluates brand portfolio amid shifting sales trends

Stellantis is facing strategic questions regarding its 14 automotive brands following sales data from the first half of 2026. While the group saw a 5.3% increase in passenger car registrations in the EU, UK, and EFTA regions—reaching over 1 million units—its market share slightly declined from 15.3% to 15.2%.

Data suggests that a significant portion of the group's European sales is driven by only three brands. This disparity has led to discussions about the viability of niche brands such as Maserati, DS Automobiles, and Alfa Romeo. Potential strategies include merging DS Automobiles with Citroën as a luxury line, potentially spinning off Maserati, or maintaining Alfa Romeo through 2028 before making further decisions.

In the North American market, the Dodge Charger R/T is being positioned as a competitive alternative to German luxury sedans. The vehicle features a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six engine producing 420 horsepower and offers a more spacious interior and lower price point compared to competitors like the BMW 540i.
