Stellantis installs high‑capacity stamping press at Michigan plant

Stellantis has added a new metal‑cutting press at its Warren Stamping Plant in the Detroit metro area of Michigan. The equipment can produce between 4.5 million and 6 million stamped parts each year for key models such as the Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Stellantis says the press will increase internal capacity, improve quality control and reduce reliance on external suppliers.

The new press works alongside the nearby Sterling Stamping Plant, one of the world’s largest stamping facilities. Together the two plants supply components – including hoods, doors, lift‑gates and structural parts – to Stellantis assembly lines in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The high‑speed transfer line at Warren, nicknamed “Hellcat,” can move up to 15 pieces per minute while maintaining tight tolerances. "The new press has a production capacity of 4.5 to 6 million parts annually for vehicles including the Ram 1500 and three Jeep models," said Curtis Booth, vice‑president and plant director.
