Stellantis launches low-cost electric car project in Pomigliano d'Arco, boosting local jobs

Stellantis announced that it will produce a compact, affordable electric vehicle at its plant in Pomigliano d'Arco, southern Italy. The model, priced around €15,000, targets the European market and will use the STLA Small platform in partnership with Leapmotor.

The project is presented as a way to protect and increase employment at the Pomigliano site and within the local supply chain, including firms such as Trasnova and Tiberina that have faced layoffs and zero‑hour contracts. Union leader Giuseppe Raso of FISM highlighted the need to secure jobs for workers currently on zero‑hour cassa integrazione until December 2026.
