Electrolux confirms 1,450 redundancies in Italian industrial plan
Electrolux has confirmed an industrial restructuring plan in Italy that involves approximately 1,450 redundancies. This figure is a reduction from the 1,719 layoffs initially announced in the spring.
Specific impacts include 463 redundancies at the Porcia plant, comprising 208 production workers and 255 staff members. The Forlì facility faces 297 job losses, with 214 in production and 83 in staff roles. Additionally, the Cerreto d’Esi plant is scheduled to close, affecting 170 employees.
Following technical discussions at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Emilia-Romagna President Michele de Pascale and regional labor assessor Giovanni Paglia reported that the talks yielded no positive results. They have called on the national government to intervene and find a solution.
Labor unions, including Fim, Fiom, and Uilm, have responded by calling for an eight-hour strike across all Electrolux plants. CGIL General Secretary Maurizio Landini has urged a modification of the industrial plan to prioritize Italian production and investment, expressing concern that the current plan does not represent a viable new industrial project.
