The company aims to raise production from 90 to 140 pieces per hour, a move labor representatives have characterized as “inhumane.” Unions have also noted that the company has reportedly moved away from previous agreements regarding new production lines in Solaro.

The dispute has prompted coordinated action between the Italian government and regional leaders. Minister Adolfo Urso has held video conferences with several regional presidents to establish a unified strategy to protect production sites. Meanwhile, the Italian government is promoting a ‘non-paper’ to the European Commission to seek urgent measures for the European home appliance sector. Labor tensions also persist at the Beko plant in Melano, where workers continue to protest a lack of industrial and employment guarantees.
