Stellantis plants in Termoli and Cassino face job cuts, officials call for strategic production assignments

Regional officials warned that the Stellantis plant in Termoli, Molise, could lose up to 900 jobs unless the government assigns strategic engine production to the site. Councillor Andrea Di Lucente urged Minister Adolfo Urso to allocate new engine lines that would protect roughly 300 current positions and prevent massive layoffs, noting that Molise is the only Italian region without recent GDP growth.

In Cassino, Lazio, union leaders from the Fim‑Cisl federation demanded that Stellantis allocate new Alfa Romeo and Maserati models to the Piedimonte San Germano (Cassino) plant. They called for an accelerated industrial plan, social safety‑net guarantees for workers, and investment in high‑potential local supply chains such as aerospace to offset the broader automotive downturn.

Both gatherings emphasised the need for a coordinated industrial strategy, stronger government support, and concrete actions to sustain employment in Italy’s automotive sector.
