Stellantis resumes production at major plants in Spain and Italy

Stellantis has resumed operations at two of its major European manufacturing facilities following summer breaks.

In Figueruelas, Spain, approximately 5,000 employees are returning to work. The restart includes a strategic industrial shift as the plant prepares to produce its first vehicle of Chinese origin on a renovated production line. While the specific model and production volumes have not been disclosed, the move comes amid increased competition from Asian manufacturers in the European automotive sector.

In Italy, the Mirafiori plant in Turin is restarting production after a 31-day hiatus. The facility aims to produce up to 400 Fiat 500 Hybrid vehicles per day across two shifts. This restart follows previous production challenges caused by component and engine shortages. Despite these hurdles, production data for the first half of the year showed a significant increase compared to the previous year, driven largely by the Fiat 500 Hybrid model.
