Stellantis rolls out satellite‑connected Jeep and robotaxi pilot in Europe

At the MOVE 2026 mobility technology event in London (June 17‑18), Stellantis unveiled a Jeep Compass equipped with narrow‑band 5G satellite connectivity, enabling essential vehicle services in remote areas without terrestrial network coverage. The company also presented its L4‑Ready Platform™, an architecture designed for Level 4 autonomous operation and intended for shared‑mobility services such as robotaxis.

In parallel, Stellantis partnered with Bolt and Pony.ai to launch a public‑road robotaxi pilot in Luxembourg. The trial uses electric vans built on the L4‑Ready Platform, fitted with Pony.ai’s seventh‑generation sensor suite (cameras, radar, LiDAR) and managed through Bolt’s digital fleet‑allocation system. The program starts with five vehicles, scaling to up to thirty over twelve months, and initially includes a human supervisor in the driver seat. The aim is to validate technical performance and regulatory compatibility for fully autonomous electric taxis in Europe.
