Stellantis uses standardized parts across 18 vehicle models
Stellantis has implemented a high level of component standardization across its diverse brand portfolio to drive cost efficiency. A notable example is the use of the same exterior rearview mirror on at least 18 different vehicle models across various brands, including Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, and Jeep.
This widespread use of a single part is driven by the company’s shared technical architectures, specifically the CMP platform and its simplified Smart Car derivative. While this strategy optimizes production and reduces costs, it creates aesthetic contrasts, as the same component is applied to vehicles with vastly different design languages, ranging from the organic lines of the Peugeot 208 to the more angular styling of the Jeep Avenger.
