Stellantis partners with Wayve and Uber for autonomous driving
Stellantis has entered a strategic partnership with AI specialist Wayve and ride-hailing giant Uber to develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous vehicles. The collaboration aims to combine industrial hardware production, algorithmic software, and commercial distribution infrastructure to make self-driving technology scalable and sustainable.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the partnership with Wayve is intended to reduce development costs and timelines for advanced driver-assistance systems. By leveraging automotive scale, the companies aim to make hands-free driving more affordable. The first product launch resulting from this collaboration is targeted for North America in 2028.
In related transport developments, the Asstra association is hosting its 20th National Convention in Rome to discuss the future of local public transport. The event focuses on how technological and energetic transformations can create more efficient and sustainable services amidst rising energy costs and changing fiscal policies in Italy.
