STEM and AI training programs empower Nigerian youth

Various educational initiatives in Nigeria are focusing on equipping youth with advanced technical skills. Action Health Incorporated (AHI) recently completed a two-week summer training program for twenty adolescents. The curriculum covered basic computer operations, hardware, software, Python programming, and introductory artificial intelligence concepts. Participants demonstrated their learning by developing a simple chatbot.

In Abuja, the Visiola Foundation concluded an eight-day STEM summer camp for 100 teenage girls from 45 government secondary schools. The program, themed ‘Powering the Future: Girls Leading Africa’s Renewable Energy Revolution’, focused on renewable energy technologies, electronics, and engineering design. Students worked in teams to build prototypes for real-world energy challenges, including a winning ‘SmartFarm’ automated system.
