Stevie Wonder releases surprise Songs in the Key of Life EP

Stevie Wonder has released the ‘Songs in the Key of Life EP’, a surprise collection of four outtakes selected by the artist. The release is notable for its timing, arriving on September 28, 2026, at 4:54 AM—a time and date of personal significance to Wonder, marking 50 years since the original ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ era.

The EP features tracks mixed by the original album engineers, John Fischbach and Gary O. Adante. While three of the songs were previously known only through rumors or unformed titles, one track, ‘I Can See the Sun in Late December’, was a song Wonder originally gave to Roberta Flack for her 1975 album.

Unlike many prolific artists who release deluxe editions or have recordings leaked via bootlegs, Wonder has historically been protective of his vault, making this release a rare glimpse into his private archives.
