Stiftung Warentest: Discount dishwasher tabs outperform major brands

Stiftung Warentest has conducted extensive testing on dishwasher cleaning products, revealing that inexpensive private-label brands from discounters and drugstores frequently outperform major name brands.

In a series of tests involving 30 different products, including both multi-tabs and mono-tabs, several budget options received high ratings. For multi-tabs, products such as Aldi’s ‘Power Force All-in-One’ and Rossmann’s ‘Domol Ultra Power All-in-One’ achieved top scores. Lidl’s ‘W5 Multi-Active All in 1’ was also identified as a top performer.

The testing evaluated cleaning performance, limescale protection, handling, and environmental impact. The results indicate that higher prices do not necessarily correlate with better cleaning efficiency, as many of the ‘good’ rated products were store brands costing significantly less per wash than premium alternatives.
