Stiftung Warentest evaluates nut-nougat creams and spreads
Stiftung Warentest has released new consumer reports evaluating nut-nougat creams and butter-rapeseed oil spreads.
In a test of 18 nut-nougat creams, the Aldi brand ‘Nusskati’ and Kräm’s ‘dark hazelnut cream’ shared the top spot with an overall grade of 2.0. The ‘Nusskati’ brand received a 1.5 for sensory qualities, described as aromatic and cocoa-like, while also being noted as a price leader at 50 cents per 100 grams. Nutella placed third with a grade of 2.2; while testers praised its vanilla-like aroma, it was penalized for having the highest sugar content at 57 percent and a higher price point of 84 cents per 100 grams.
In a separate evaluation of 23 mixed spreads made from butter and rapeseed oil, the testing body found that 14 products achieved a ‘good’ rating. One specific product achieved a perfect 1.0 sensory score for taste, distinguishing itself from other brands in terms of flavor profile.
