Stiftung Warentest food product evaluations
Overview
Stiftung Warentest conducted evaluations of various nut-nougat creams and butter-rapeseed oil spreads.
In the assessment of 18 nut-nougat creams, the Aldi brand ‘Nusskati’ and Goldhelm’s ‘dark hazelnut cream’ shared the top position with an overall grade of 2.0. While ‘Nusskati’ was noted for its aromatic cocoa flavor and low price of 50 cents per 100 grams, Goldhelm achieved a perfect 1.0 sensory score due to a hazelnut content exceeding 50 percent, despite a higher price of approximately six euros per 100 grams. Nutella ranked third with a grade of 2.2; testers noted its vanilla-like aroma but penalized it for a high sugar content of 57 percent and a price of 84 cents per 100 grams.
Additionally, a separate test of 23 mixed spreads made from butter and rapeseed oil found that 14 products received a ‘good’ rating, with one product earning a perfect 1.0 sensory score for taste.
