STJ grants release for MC Ryan SP as PF seeks preventive detention in R$1.6B laundering scheme

The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) granted habeas corpus to release MC Ryan SP, who had been detained in a Federal Police operation. The court found the 30-day temporary detention illegal, noting that the police had requested five days, a period that had already expired. The operation uncovered a criminal organization suspected of laundering more than R$1.6 billion, and the investigation began long before the warrants were issued.

Investigators also linked MC Ryan SP to a leadership role in the alleged scheme, which authorities say laundered funds via raffles and illegal betting, and named MC Poze do Rodo and the founder of the Choquei page as participants in the case.

Following the STJ decision, the Federal Police (PF) requested preventive detention of MC Ryan SP, arguing he headed the scheme. The request involves MC Poze do Rodo and the Choquei page founder as collaborators in the operation, highlighting ongoing proceedings related to the alleged illicit activities.
