STJD suspends Alexsander and fines Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro

The Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) has issued several sanctions following a Copa do Brasil quarter-final match between Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro.

Player Alexsander received a two-match suspension for insulting Kaio Jorge in the anti-doping room. The defense argued the insult was a response to provocations made by the attacker during the match.

Atlético-MG was fined R$ 19,000 due to match delays and missing equipment. However, the club was acquitted of charges regarding objects thrown onto the pitch. Cruzeiro was fined R$ 15,000 and ordered to pay R$ 31,428.62 in damages to Atlético-MG for issues in the visitor sector, though they were acquitted of disorder charges.
