STMicroelectronics launches precision 6-axis motion sensors

STMicroelectronics has introduced new miniature 6-axis motion sensors, known as inertial measurement units (IMU), designed for high-precision motion tracking and event reconstruction. The product lineup includes the consumer-oriented LSM6DSK320X and the industrial-grade ISM6HGK256X.

These sensors utilize an advanced super-symmetric gyroscope architecture and precise accelerometer tracking to enable applications such as drone flight stabilization, industrial asset monitoring, robotics, and sports-performance analysis. The technology allows smart applications to distinguish between different types of incidents, supporting features like accident alerting, concussion detection, and tool-usage monitoring.

Developed under the ST Sustainable Technology initiative, the sensors are designed to meet stringent environmental and regulatory standards, including being BPA-free and Pb-free. The compact form factor is intended for use in a variety of devices, ranging from fitness trackers and smart tags to professional agricultural surveying drones and game controllers.
