Stockard Channing describes living a reclusive life in London

American actress Stockard Channing, known for her roles in ‘Grease’ and ‘The West Wing’, has revealed she is living a “reclusive” life in London. The 82-year-old relocated from Maine to the UK in 2019, a move she says was influenced by the death of her long-term partner, cinematographer Daniel Gillham, in 2014.

Channing described the loss of Gillham, with whom she had been in a relationship since 1990, as having a “lag effect” that shifted the pattern of her life. She noted that her move to London also coincided with changing political climates in the United States.

While she has taken on fewer screen roles recently, Channing remains active in theatre. She is currently directing a production of ‘Krapp’s Last Tape’ at the Edinburgh Fringe. She also confirmed she will reprise her role in a ‘Practical Magic’ sequel alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.
