Storms cause property damage and flooding in Italy

Severe summer thunderstorms and heavy winds caused significant damage across the Vesuvian area in Italy.

In Boscoreale, a large pine tree was uprooted by strong gusts and collapsed onto a villa in the Marchesa locality. While the structure sustained substantial damage, no residents were injured as the house was unoccupied at the time. The local mayor, Pasquale Di Lauro, confirmed that the family of four was relocated to local accommodation as a precaution. Emergency services, including firefighters and local police, worked to secure the area and clear the partially blocked roadway.

In Poggiomarino, intense rainfall and wind caused a palm tree to fall onto a sidewalk on Via Roma, near the post office. No pedestrians or vehicles were struck, as many citizens had sought shelter from the storm. The heavy downpour also overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to localized flooding on several streets and causing traffic disruptions.
