Storms in Spain's La Rioja cause floods, road closures and emergency rescues
Heavy rainfall swept the La Rioja region of Spain, prompting the Civil Guard and emergency services to intervene across several towns. In Pradejón, a house was evacuated after water entered the interior, a nearby block's garage was flooded, and two vehicles were rescued from the LR‑280 road after becoming stuck in water and mud.
In the city of Logroño, municipal emergency teams recorded about 20 calls related to flooding of homes, garages and public streets. The storm forced the closure of the Cortijo road at the Cristo hermitage and led the city council to suspend the urban bus line serving that neighbourhood. Residents were advised to avoid the affected areas until conditions were deemed safe. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to respond to further incidents.
