Storm's vampire history revisited in Midnight X-Men series

The new Midnight X-Men comic book series introduces an alternate Earth where vampires and mutant vampires, known as Empyres, are in conflict. While a peace compact currently exists between mortal mutants like Magneto and Empyres like Storm, the stability of this arrangement is threatened by William Stryker's plans for war.

This storyline echoes a previous era in Marvel history. Nearly three decades ago, in the 1998 Mutant X series, the character Storm appeared as one of the most powerful vampires, known as Bloodstorm. That storyline took place on Earth-1298, a reality featuring different versions of the X-Men, including Havok as leader and Madelyne Pryor as a team member.
