Storytelling festivals launch in Argentina and Chile
Regional storytelling festivals are launching in Argentina and Chile to promote oral traditions and memory through community engagement.
In San Rafael, Argentina, the international oral storytelling festival ‘CuentaSur: Voz, memoria y territorio’ will host voices from Argentina and Colombia. Organized by Casa Roja and Metarte, the event includes performances, workshops, and tributes to the ‘Abuelas Narradoras’. Featured participants include Colombian narrators Luz Restrepo and Omaira Valencia, alongside local regional performers.
In Chile, the ‘Aconcacuentos’ festival is beginning an itinerant tour across the Aconcagua Valley. Funded by the National Fund for the Promotion and Development of Performing Arts, the initiative will travel through communes such as Los Andes, Calle Larga, San Esteban, Panquehue, and Putaendo. The program, directed by Magda Sánchez, offers free storytelling functions for families and specialized workshops for adults to develop oral narration skills.
