Bulgarian authorities have launched a nationwide search for influencer Stoyan Kolev after he escaped house arrest in Burgas. The 39-year-old fled his residence in the Slaveykov neighborhood on August 24, reportedly jumping from a window after an electronic monitoring bracelet triggered an alert. Although police initially found him at the address, he disappeared within 15 minutes before a second patrol arrived.

Kolev has since appeared in videos on TikTok and Instagram, claiming he has left Bulgaria and directing insults toward prosecutors, judges, and police. In one video, he was seen holding a small axe. While he claims to be abroad, his location has not been independently verified.

The escape has raised questions regarding the effectiveness of electronic monitoring. Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev noted that Kolev’s bracelet appeared to lack the necessary tracking device and stated that systemic changes would be considered if negligence by Ministry of Interior staff is found.

Kolev faces several charges, including hooliganism and driving under the influence of cocaine. His legal troubles include an incident on the Trakia motorway where he allegedly drove aggressively and brandished an air rifle, as well as disorderly conduct at a courthouse in Pazardzhik.
