Stoyan Kolev refuses voluntary extradition from Spain

Influencer Stoyan Kolev, who was arrested by Spanish National Police in Valencia, has refused to be voluntarily extradited to Bulgaria. This refusal shifts his case from an accelerated procedure to a standard judicial process under Spanish Law 23/2014.

Spanish magistrates must now determine if the legal requirements for his extradition are met. Under local law, a final decision must be made within 60 days of detention, though this can be extended by an additional 30 days if justified, potentially lasting up to 90 days. The court's role is to verify the legality of the extradition request rather than determining Kolev's guilt or innocence regarding the Bulgarian charges.

Kolev was previously facing charges from the Pazardzhik District Prosecutor's Office following an incident on the Trakia motorway. The allegations include aggressive driving under the influence of drugs and the display of a pneumatic rifle. Before his arrest in Spain, Kolev had reportedly fled his residence in Burgas, violating a previous house arrest measure.
