Strait of Hormuz: Three vessels struck by unknown projectiles
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that three vessels, including a crude oil tanker and an LNG tanker, were struck by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz. While one vessel reported a fire caused by a projectile, the crew remained safe and the ship stayed underway.
These incidents occur amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. Iran has claimed to have targeted or intercepted 19 vessels operating outside of Tehran-designated routes over a recent weekend, though it has not provided evidence for all claims.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that the strait is a site of daily military conflict and that they have been targeting small boats for some time.
