Strategic minerals companies launch new tungsten drilling campaigns
Strategic minerals exploration companies have launched new drilling campaigns targeting tungsten, a critical mineral used in electronics, defense, and cutting tools.
In Cornwall, UK, Strategic Minerals has begun a 22,500-metre diamond drilling programme at its Redmoor tungsten, tin, and copper project. The campaign utilizes three rigs across 53 planned holes to expand resources and gather technical data for a future feasibility study. The Redmoor project currently holds a resource of 17.4 million tonnes at 0.65% tungsten-trioxide equivalent.
In Nevada, USA, Great Western Mining Corporation PLC has commenced drilling at its Defender Tungsten Project in Mineral County. The program aims to test a 600 to 1,000-metre corridor encompassing several historic mines. The company expects to deliver a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate by the end of 2026, with drill assay results anticipated throughout September and October 2026.
