Streaming services surpass Globo in over half of Brazil's capitals

A new survey based on Ibope audience data indicates that streaming services have surpassed Globo in more than half of the Brazilian capitals included in the National Television Panel. The data, collected in June 2026, shows that Globo lost its position as the primary choice for viewers in several cities, including Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Curitiba, Brasília, Campinas, Vitória, Manaus, and Florianópolis.

Streaming services have achieved 100% dominance over Globo in the South region of Brazil. In Campinas, the gap was particularly notable, with local affiliate EPTV trailing streaming platforms by 2.3 points.

The report also highlights a general decline in cable television. In several Northeastern capitals and Belém, paid channels averaged less than 1 point per month, with Recife recording the lowest performance at 0.5 points. Rio de Janeiro remains the strongest market for both Globo and paid television, with the latter averaging 3.3 points.
