Street Lighting Upgrades Launch in Saltillo, Mexico and Bogotá, Colombia

In Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Mayor Javier Díaz González inaugurated a modernization of the peripheral Luis Echeverría roadway lighting, replacing 780 LED luminaires with 170‑watt LED Road Focus units. The project, funded with 8.2 million pesos and supported by Governor Manolo Jiménez, aims to improve safety, mobility and cut energy consumption by about 40 percent.

Meanwhile, Bogotá’s Unidad Administrativa Especial de Servicios Públicos (UAESP) began a pilot of intelligent public lighting on the commercial corridor of Calle 85 and Carrera 15. The system uses sensors to detect faults and vandalism in real time, remotely adjusts light intensity according to traffic and pedestrian flow, and seeks to lower the high replacement costs of stolen or damaged fixtures. The pilot is part of a broader effort that processed roughly 93 000 service orders in 2026, achieving an 86.9 % response rate within 120 hours.
