Strong winds cause road‑blocking tree falls in Italy's Marche

More than 90 emergency interventions were recorded across the Marche region after strong gusts knocked down trees and branches onto roads, with 15 incidents in the province of Fermo alone. In Fermo, an entire tree struck a moving car; the driver escaped serious injury. Similar incidents were reported in Sant’Elpidio a Mare, where fallen limbs obstructed traffic and prompted joint action by firefighters and carabinieri.

Coastal areas suffered additional damage as umbrellas, tables and gazebos were blown away, leading to the cancellation of several events and disrupting the "Tesori del Mare" antique market in Porto San Giorgio.

Separately, on the provincial road Mezzina near Cabbiano in Castel di Lama, a partially deteriorated tree broke and dropped dry branches onto the carriageway. No vehicles were present, no one was injured, and local residents helped clear debris until fire crews removed the trunk and restored traffic flow.
