Student Alliance Protests Sexual Harassment at UIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo

The UIN SMART Student Alliance held a large-scale demonstration in front of the Rectorate Building at Campus 1 on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Under the theme “UIN Moral Emergency,” students protested against frequent sexual harassment cases on campus and the perceived slow response from university bureaucracy.

Protesters demanded the permanent dismissal and imprisonment of lecturers proven to have committed sexual harassment. They also alleged that some cases were being settled through improper means, including offers of money, housing, and academic leniency for victims regarding their final theses.

The demonstration coincided with the inauguration of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS). Student leaders criticized the timing as being too late and urged the task force to implement massive socialization regarding reporting procedures and standard operating procedures to ensure victim safety and anonymity.
