Student literature fairs activate public spaces in Argentina and Mexico

In Corrientes, Argentina, students and teachers from Colegio Hipólito Yrigoyen turned Plaza La Cruz into an open‑air library during the Feria Literaria y Cultural on June 17. The event showcased student work in narrative, lyrical and dramatic genres and drew families to the public square. Teacher Vanesa Escarlón said, "Esta feria permitió que los estudiantes compartieran con la comunidad el resultado de sus procesos de aprendizaje y mostraran todo lo que fueron construyendo durante el cuatrimestre." She added that bringing the fair to the plaza "nos permitió abrir la escuela a la comunidad, acercar la cultura y la lectura a las familias".

Meanwhile, the Campus Carlos Prieto of the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, Mexico, hosted its traditional Feria de Literatura on June 18‑19. The two‑day fair aimed to foster reading, imagination and learning among children, featuring book stalls by Librerías Hidalgo, a storytelling session by Colombian narrator Walter Díaz Ovalles, and a musical recital by a Conservatorio graduate. Director Dahlia Cisneros Reza highlighted the activity as part of the campus’s educational vision, providing "espacios que favorecen el desarrollo integral de los menores".

Both events illustrate how local schools are using literature fairs to create cultural hubs, engage families and promote literacy in public settings.
