Students in Serbia launch bicycle campaign for elections

The Studentska lista (Student List) has launched a ten-day bicycle tour across Serbia titled ‘Čuvari Ustava’ (Guardians of the Constitution) as part of its campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 25. The group, divided into two columns, departed from Belgrade to visit dozens of cities, including Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac, to engage directly with citizens and advocate for constitutional rights.

Research by the Krovna organizacija mladih Srbije (KOMS) indicates a significant rise in political interest among Serbian youth, with 89% of young people expressing willingness to vote. The report notes that while trust in political institutions remains low, there is high support for the student movement, with 84.4% of youth supporting student activities.

The movement has garnered diverse political support, including endorsements from ideologically opposing groups. Meanwhile, the Republican Election Commission (RIK) has addressed complaints regarding potential conflicts of interest involving President Aleksandar Vučić and his party's candidacy, though the commission largely dismissed the objections.
