Studio Ghibli celebrates 40 years of Castle in the Sky with US screenings

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Studio Ghibli’s first film, ‘Castle in the Sky’, is returning to American theaters for special screenings. The event, part of the Studio Ghibli Fest, includes five nationwide screenings scheduled from August 22 to August 26.

Presented by GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment, the screenings will offer the film in both its original Japanese audio and an English-dubbed version featuring the voices of Mark Hamill, Anna Paquin, James Van Der Beek, Cloris Leachman, and Mandy Patinkin. The theatrical experience will also include a clip from the special featurette, ‘The World of Laputa’.

Other upcoming titles in the Studio Ghibli Fest lineup include a 4K remaster of ‘Princess Mononoke’ and the 25th-anniversary celebration of ‘Spirited Away’.
