Stunting trends vary across Indonesian regions

Stunting rates show diverging trends in different Indonesian regions as of October 2026. In Serpong Utara, South Tangerang, stunting cases increased to 36, up from 29 cases in 2025. The Jelupang sub-district recorded 13 of these cases. In response, the South Tangerang Health Office has inaugurated the 61st Nutrition Post (Pos Gizi) in Jelupang to provide supplementary feeding, parental education, and growth monitoring.

Conversely, Sleman Regency reported a decrease in stunting prevalence to 4.04%, surpassing its regional development target. To maintain this progress, the Sleman government introduced two new initiatives: the ‘Satu Data Stunting’ digital system to integrate inter-agency data and prevent program overlap, and the ‘Mata Hati’ program, which provides psychological support for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and caregivers.
