Stuttgart 21: Activists sue to force release of Deutsche Bahn report
The activists' alliance against the Stuttgart 21 railway project, the Aktionsbündnis gegen Stuttgart 21, has announced plans to file a lawsuit to force the disclosure of an internal Deutsche Bahn revision report.
The report, produced in the first half of 2026, reportedly outlines the current status of the project, its structural issues, and internal failures within Deutsche Bahn. This follows an announcement by Deutsche Bahn CEO Evelyn Palla regarding a delay of at least five years for the project's start date based on the report's findings.
Deutsche Bahn has refused the request for access, classifying the document as a trade secret and arguing that because construction at the Stuttgart rail node is well underway, there are no longer relevant environmental impacts to disclose. Spokesperson Dieter Reicherter is seeking access via the Environmental Information Act, arguing that the document contains environmental aspects that should be subject to public scrutiny.
