Stuttgart market fire engulfs hall complex, over 100 firefighters deployed
A large fire broke out in a hall of the Stuttgart wholesale market located in an industrial area. The blaze was described by the Stuttgart fire service as the biggest deployment in years, with more than 100 firefighters, tank fire trucks and high‑capacity water hoses battling the flames. The fire produced thick smoke visible across the Neckar valley, prompting the fire brigade to warn residents within a four‑kilometre radius to keep windows and doors closed. No injuries were reported at the time. The market houses over 100 import and wholesale companies supplying fresh produce and flowers to hotels and restaurants, though the exact contents of the burning hall were initially unclear. The incident required substantial water resources and the removal of trucks from storage areas to limit damage.
