STVR announces DVB-T2 transition and Titan OS introduces unskippable ads

In Slovakia, the public broadcaster STVR is transitioning its terrestrial multiplex from the DVB-T standard to DVB-T2 on September 22. This change affects viewers using traditional antennas for channels Jedinstka, Dvojka, 24, and Šport. While cable, satellite, and internet TV users are unaffected, those using antennas may experience a black screen or signal loss if their devices do not support the new standard. Users with compatible hardware may need to perform an automatic or manual channel scan to restore service.

Separately, owners of certain smart televisions using the Titan OS system—including brands such as Philips, Sharp, AOC, and Vestel—will encounter a new unskippable advertisement format. Known as ‘Homepage Spotlight,’ these ads appear on the home screen before a user selects an application or program, utilizing the space while viewers are navigating their menus.
