Suame Interchange phase two expected to open by October 2026

Phase two of the Suame Interchange construction project in Ghana’s Ashanti Region is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of October 2026. The project, executed by Rango Construction Company Limited, is currently 87 per cent complete and involves the construction of three overpasses at Anoamangye, Maakro, and Abusuakruwa.

In addition to the overpasses, the project includes the expansion of the Offinso Road (N10) into a 2×3-lane dual carriageway, which is currently 77 per cent complete. The interchange is designed to alleviate severe traffic congestion near Suame Magazine, one of West Africa’s largest vehicle repair and spare-parts hubs, which currently impacts regional supply chains and transport costs.

Resident Engineer Dennis Kusi Boateng noted that the completion of this phase will allow the contractor to shift focus toward the first phase of the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2028. The first phase includes a three-tier interchange at Suame and the widening of eastern and western bypass roads. Recent inspections were conducted by the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, alongside other ministry officials.
