Suame Interchange construction in Ghana

Overview

Construction of Phase 2 of the Suame Interchange in Kumasi, Ghana, is progressing toward a projected opening in October 2026. The project, managed by Rango Construction Company Limited, is approximately 87 per cent complete.

Key components include the construction of three overpasses at the Anomangye, Maakro, and Abusuakruwa junctions, as well as the expansion of the Offinso Road (N10) into a dual carriageway, which is currently 77 per cent complete. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion near the Suame Magazine vehicle repair hub.

Following the completion of Phase 2, contractors intend to shift focus to Phase 1, which is scheduled for completion in 2028 and includes a three-tier interchange and the widening of bypass roads. Previous delays to the project were attributed to national debt issues, pipeline relocation, and resident compensation.
