Subaru and Daihatsu announce vehicle updates in Japan

Subaru has announced updates for the Impreza (D-type) in Japan, effective September 2026. The updated lineup will discontinue the e-BOXER hybrid system, moving exclusively to a 2.0L gasoline engine in the Smart Edition trim. This model offers both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, with navigation systems becoming standard across all vehicles. While the Impreza shifts toward gasoline, Subaru’s Crosstrek is moving in the opposite direction, with all grades being unified under the S:HEV strong hybrid system.

Separately, Daihatsu has released an updated version of its Move Canbus, a compact tall wagon. The improvements focus on enhanced safety and convenience features, including an upgraded Smart Assist system with improved bicycle and pedestrian detection. The vehicle also features an updated Active Multi Information Meter with a 7-inch TFT display. The Move Canbus continues to offer both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engine options with fuel efficiency reaching 22.9 km/L in WLTC mode.
