Subaru Expands EV Lineup with Solterra Upgrade and Getaway Production Delay

Subaru has refreshed its 2026 Solterra electric crossover, boosting the EPA‑rated range to roughly 288 miles thanks to a larger 74.7 kWh battery and a new 11 kW onboard charger. The model now features NACS fast‑charging ports, upgraded dual‑motor output (up to 338 hp for the front unit) and a 0‑60 time of 4.5 seconds, alongside revised suspension and steering for sharper handling.

At the same time, Subaru announced a postponement of the launch of its flagship three‑row Getaway SUV, originally slated for production at the Toyota‑owned Kentucky plant by year‑end. The delay, attributed to final‑adjustment needs, pushes the start date beyond the planned fall rollout. The Getaway will share a platform with Toyota’s Highlander EV, offering 95.8 kWh or 77 kWh battery packs and a NACS charge port capable of 150 kW DC fast charging, with off‑road capability and a 3,500‑lb tow rating.
