Subaru reports mixed global sales and announces new Outback launch
Subaru is experiencing varied market performance across different regions. In the Philippines, sales volume for the first half of 2026 dropped 41 percent year-on-year, with only 217 units sold between January and June. This decline is attributed primarily to vehicle supply shortages rather than a lack of demand; for instance, the brand has only fulfilled approximately 39.5 percent of Forester e-Boxer orders. To bolster its lineup, Motor Image expects to launch the all-new Subaru Outback in the Philippines during the fourth quarter of 2026.
In the United States, Subaru of America reported a slight monthly sales increase in August 2026, with 62,028 units sold, up 1.3 percent from the previous year. The Crosstrek and Forester remain strong performers, while the WRX saw a significant 191 percent jump. However, year-to-date performance for the company shows a 3 percent decline compared to the previous year, with total sales reaching 423,822 units. The brand faces challenges with its electric vehicle segment, noting an 87 percent drop in Solterra EV sales.
