Subaru WRX sales surge 191% in August

Subaru of America reported a 1.3 percent increase in sales for August, totaling 62,028 units. While year-to-date performance shows a 3 percent decline with 423,822 vehicles sold, several specific models showed significant growth.

The Subaru WRX experienced a major resurgence, with August sales reaching 1,778 units, a 191 percent increase compared to the previous year. Year-to-date sales for the WRX have risen by 37.7 percent to 10,324 units, a trend attributed to the reintroduction of a more affordable entry-level trim that reduced the starting price by over $5,000.

Other notable performers include the Ascent, which saw a 37.2 percent monthly sales jump, and the Forester, which recorded a 17.8 percent increase in August and a 15.1 percent year-to-date gain. Despite these successes, the Crosstrek, Subaru’s best-seller, saw a 4.4 percent dip in August.
