A study by SubmitHub reveals that nearly 40% of new music released globally in July 2026 involved artificial intelligence. Using its SH Labs detection tool to analyze over one million tracks, the research found that 23.2% of songs were entirely AI-generated, while an additional 15.3% contained AI-generated elements that were subsequently modified or processed by humans.

This surge in AI involvement has prompted major industry players to implement transparency measures. Spotify is introducing an ‘AI Persona’ label for artist profiles to help listeners distinguish between human and synthetic content. Bandcamp has already banned music that is entirely AI-generated, and Beatport is blocking such tracks at the point of upload.

SubmitHub founder Jason Grishkoff emphasized that transparency is the key to addressing the growing issue of AI in music, allowing listeners to make informed choices. The study also highlighted a discrepancy in disclosure: approximately 31% of tracks flagged as AI-generated by the detection system were identified by their authors or distributors as being created without AI tools.
