Cateno De Luca expands Sud chiama Nord presence in Sicily

Cateno De Luca, leader of the Sud chiama Nord movement, is significantly expanding his political presence in Sicily ahead of upcoming regional elections. In the Agrigento province, the movement has gained support from Favara city councilors Salvatore Fanara, Gaspare Castronovo, and Marianna Zambito. Fanara is expected to run in the regional elections, leveraging his previous electoral success in the territory.

In the Palermo area, De Luca has secured the support of Filippo Tripoli, the mayor of Bagheria, who will run for the Sicilian Regional Assembly under the Liberi e Forti list. This move is expected to trigger early municipal elections in Bagheria, as Tripoli must resign six months before the regional vote.

De Luca has also outlined a broader strategic reorganization, which includes the potential formation of a new parliamentary group at the Sicilian Regional Assembly (ARS) and a goal to reach a 3% electoral threshold. Additionally, regional deputy Giuseppe Lombardo of Sud chiama Nord has criticized the regional government following the rejection of a 40-million-euro amendment intended to support the recovery plan for the Sicilian Motorways Consortium (CAS).
