Sudan Armed Forces repel RSF attacks in North Kordofan
The Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and allied Joint Forces have reported repelling major attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in North Kordofan state. Military sources claim that government forces successfully pushed back RSF assaults on the Jebrat al Sheikh district, as well as the areas of Jabal Hashaba and Umm Arda located southwest of El-Obeid.
According to military reports, the RSF suffered casualties and lost military equipment during these engagements. While the SAF and Joint Forces released videos intended to show control over these areas, neither the army nor the RSF had issued official statements regarding the specific clashes at the time of reporting.
The fighting occurs amidst a broader civil war that began in April 2023, triggered by disputes over the integration of the RSF into the regular military. The conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced approximately 15 million people, according to UN data and local authorities. The Kordofan region remains a primary battleground in the ongoing struggle for strategic control.
