Sudanese army drones hit a traditional court in the village of Garra al‑Zawaya, North Darfur, on Sunday around 1 p.m. local time, killing at least 35 people and wounding dozens of others. The court session was being held under a tree with local community leaders present. Among those killed were four tribal leaders and two commanders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The village is under RSF control.

United Nations investigators have said the violence linked to the RSF’s siege of El‑Fasher bears the “hallmarks of genocide”. The UN also reports that more than 1,000 civilians have been killed by drone strikes in the first five months of the year and that the war, which began in April 2023, has displaced millions and created what it describes as the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
